Hi, I'm Maya.
I'm a 21 year old violinist from Vancouver, BC.
For years, I struggled with really feeling confident about my sound.
I was shy playing with other musicians, unless I had practiced before hand and already knew exactly what I was playing.
Mostly I was just terrified of "wrong notes." I knew that unless I had a perfectly rehearsed part, playing wrong notes was inevitable.
Then, I started learning how to improvise music.
To be honest, at first I didn't realize that you even could "learn" to improvise. I thought it was just a gift –– either you could or you couldn't.
But, I found a method.
It changed everything. Suddenly, I understood exactly what made music sound good.
I wasn't afraid of playing wrong notes, because I understood exactly which notes were wrong and which were not.
I wasn't afraid of playing with someone even though I hadn't practiced, because I knew enough about music to create harmonies or solos on the fly.
My confidence skyrocketed. I started jamming with people, writing my own music... I felt like I was finally a MUSICIAN, rather than just someone who could play the violin.
This ability has changed my life so much, that I want to share it with as many people as I can.
To see the exact method I used to learn how to improvise,
and how YOU can do the same –– even if you are a total beginner and you know NOTHING about music theory or playing by ear
